Since installing the new router about every day and a half it looses the internet connection and both wired and wireless connection can't get to the internet. If I go to the Diagnostics tab and do a reboot it will come back up and work for about a half hour and fail again.
If I power cycle it it'll work for about a day and a half again. The router is connected to an Arris CM cable modem and power cycling it doesn't help either. I can't send router diagnostic information to Linksys because the internet connection is down and it fails. There's no way to save it and send it after the router is rebooted.
I live out in the country in the middle of 20 acres and have no neighbors, so I can say ther's no interference from other devices. This is driving me crazy. Please help!!! Me too. I don't believe the wireless channel would be a problem because the wired connections also loose internet access. Basiclly the entire router looses connectivity. As I mentioned before it can't send a diagnostic report due to the issue. Even if I power cycle the cable modem it won't reconnect.
It has to be something with the router.EA7500 Router Interface

EA8500 keeps dropping connections
Just replaced my 6 year old Arris cable modem with a new Technicolor TC mode last night. If the router looses the connection now there's nothing left I can replace. I'll post an update once I have any further information.Belkin International, Inc. Software does not include any Open Source Software as defined below. To do this, power OFF the router, unplug the power cord and wait for 10 seconds before plugging it back in. Frequent wireless disconnection can be resolved by doing the following:.

So now I'm out to find a V2 model. What a pain that I can't ask Amazon to check and send me a certain version.
I guess locally is the only way to go. I was able to find the V2 model stocked alongside a few 1. I had been searching multiple stores in the area for months and finally got lucky one day and saw one ver 2 model.
I almost ordered from Ebay but was concerned the full 3 year warranty wouldn't be honored. Thanks again to Japappas as my router has been working great since my last reply.
I'm sad to think of the average owner who ends up returning the unit because some of the troubleshooting isn't exactly intuitive even for more tech inclined users who are used to customizing routers. I'm so confused on what the directions are. At the top of the post you give directions on what to change in the settings. Then towards the bottom of the post you list several other changes. Does one supercede the other? At the top you put down that you changed the "Channel Width" to "20MHz, then at the bottom of the post it says "Wireless 2.
I would love to make these changes to my EA V2 because I'm also having the same issues. Could you possible elaborate a little more or word it in a friendlier way so dumbo's like me could understand? If I turn off band steering it would allow me to make those changes but no where in this post does it mention it. Any help you could provide is appreciated, thank you. On a side note, when I'm in the settings page from my router, when I click on the "Security" tab, and I want to jump froom one tab to another, it keeps asking me if I want to save the changes I've made to it If I click on cancel from the popup asking me to save the changes or not, then it goes back to the main security tab screen but if I hit save the chanes then it goes a little crazy on me, it stops responding, it freezes, its just not behaving like it should.
My EA is v 1. Auto updates are on, firmware is up to date. Yes, everytning has been rebooted, powered down and back up and completely disconnected from power for more than 5 minutes to ensure all is fresh. WiFi tests when less than 3 feet away from router are in the Mbps range, and less than half that when 80 feet away obstructions vary but only drywall, no concrete or brick.
Long ago I was told to turn off MP and set the maximum download bandwidth to 0 yes zero by Linksys support. The tech told me the 0 allows the router to use it's intelligence to detect the maximum bandwidth available to it.
Again, according to Linksys setting MP to any one or more devices forced all bandwidth to those devices whether or not needed and forced constant limitations to all other networked devices. These changes nearly a year ago were successful. Today the results don't seem to be as good. I am wondering if the v 2. I am willing to try more settings changes but I am about to give up on Linksys all together.
The wifi settings are frustrating enough. Now I am finding the parental controls such as pausing internet access in the middle of the night are not working as set.I have tried every firmware that came after the factory firmware even the latest one released only in February but nothhing. The router keeps dropping connections no matter what. This is the oldest firmware I could find. Linksys get your act together please and fix this issue.
It is not possible that so many people have the same issue and you only give advise about whhere to place the router or other vague answers. For anyone who think of purchasing the router, do yourself a favour and choose something else! I mean that I lose internet connectivity. For example, if I am listening to music, there is an inteerruption of secs and then the music starts playing again.
This is so annoying. I wish I never had updated the original firmware. The trick is that MP needs to be correctly configured once and then enabled and disabled. After that you can decide if MP is needed.
This initializes the QOS system properly. Thank you for the above. I will try it out. I recommend you load the latest firmware, then reset to factory defaults and reconfigure from scratch instead of testing the settings with older firmware.
The real solution is to downgrade the firmware to 1. Click troubleshooting, Diagnostics, and restore previous firmware. It solved all the issues for me. I spent 2 hours on the phone with linksys and they just said they would RMA the router instead of fixing the problem or even notifying higher tech support of the issue. Those users must have auto update disabled. I have disabled auto update and it works after I downgraded the firmware to 1.
Seems to be something in the firmware that resets the socket on certain sites or servers. It kept disconnecting me every few seconds from my synology server. Plex would only stream a few seconds before stopping saying connection was reset. My banks website would log me out and make me sign in every 10 seconds or so. I did notice it happened on wifi connections more than ethernet. I have been testing the setup provided by chadster two days ago. The situation has been beetr but I still experienced drops in the connection.
For example, this morning the music streaming randomly stopped for around 10 seconds and then starte again. Unfortunately I will also try and revert to the stable firmware since none of the updates offered by Linksys worked. Can this thread be pushed for finally fixing the firmware? This is an expensivbe router and it is a pity to have such a fault. Log In. Not a member? Sign Up. Turn on suggestions. Showing results for.I am using a late Macbook Pro and usually connect to the 5ghz band. At first, I connect fine. However, after a few hours, I get dropped from the 5ghz band and get prompted to "enter a password" and after I enter the right password, I get an error of "incorrect password".
All other clients connected to the 5ghz band remain connected. Hi, bluemann. Try forgetting the network on the MacBooks Wifi list then try to reconnect back to the network. Make sure as well that the security setting is set to WPA2 Personal. Isolate further by disabling the SSID password and connecting the laptop then enable it back. Zane — Linksys Technical Support. On the MacBook pro, I can connect to the 2. I've factory reset multiple times with no success, the same thing happens over and over. Any help would be much appreciated. Me too. Report Inappropriate Content. Message 1 of 4 Views. Message 2 of 4 Views. I have also tried to change the password and that did not work either.
The router password is simple so no need to adjust there. The router should just accept the connection regardless of password complexity. To be clear, other clients and the laptop can connect fine initially meaning, the password is accepted. The problem is that the router is dropping the connection after a few hours and at that point, the password is rejected as invalid.
If I reset the router, everything connects again and then the problem repeats after another few hours. This issue has been documented on these forums before with no resolution.
Please give me better and more concrete troubleshooting steps or help fix the router all together. Message 3 of 4 Views. Message 4 of 4 Views.
